Talented Europe applications and databases comply with the new GDPR

The new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect on May 25, 2018. Now, all Talented Europe services are in full compliance with GDPR.

We want to keep stakeholders informed and prepared so they can focus on what matters: linking young talent to employers across Europe. Not only is GDPR an important step in protecting the fundamental right to privacy for European citizens, it also raises the bar for data protection, security, and compliance in the industry.

In order to update the settings of GDPR we have created a new section on our website. There it can be found a button from where it can be downloaded personal information and even enable the notifications by email.

In addition, we have updated our Privacy Policy to comply with the new requirements of GDPR.

We’re proud to provide the highest level of privacy for our stakeholders and hope they’ll find that these updates improve their overall Talented Europe experience.

Talented Europe Analysis document is available

Talented Europe project publishes, under a free distribution license, the main document of analysis of the project and multiplatform applications. This document describes and develops the different phases of analysis and design, starting from a market study and going through the different stages of design, development and testing of the applications. It is an indispensable tool both for the development of the project, already in its final phase, and for future sustainability and maintenance. Its main sections are: System Definitions, Requirements Specifications, Data Model Specifications and Testing plan. It is available online at the URL https://bit.ly/2NqlcRa.

Informative meetings for IES Puerto de la Cruz teachers and students

IES Puerto de la Cruz – Telesforo Bravo, one of the partner institutions of the Talented Europe project, held during the first months of 2018 a series of informative meetings with professors and vocational training students of intermediate and higher education. The purpose of these meetings, within the project’s local dissemination plan, is to inform about the registration and use of multiplatform applications developed as intellectual outputs of the project. Interested teachers will be part of the group of referees. Students in their last year or recent graduates can be integrated into the database in order to be endorsed by their teachers as “Talented Students” and be visible by European companies in search of concrete professional and personal profiles.

Teachers of University of Prešov (Prešov, Slovakia) participated in a very inspirational Multiplier event organised by TUKE (the Slovak partner of Talented Europe) in October 2017 in Košice, Slovakia. They appreciated and promoted the venue in the Prešov University magazine Na pulze.

The topics of event workshops – job interview, time management, personal integrity and talent – are rather hot today with young generation, especially those launching their careers. Young people must understand the importance of displaying their talents, skills and qualities in the shop-window of a job market. Therefore the participants find the core of the project (= to emphasize, verify and spread one´s talent) a very interesting and prospective idea for university students as well as universities themselves. The role of educational institution is irreplaceable in this strategy for they are to guarantee quality of their students and this way the universities can also promote themselves.

The project output – Talented Europe webplatform and application, which the event participants could get familiar with under competent guidance of the Spanish authors, may be a very helpful tool for students to promote their talents/skills. On the other hand, this could be an attractive and easy way for employers to find a quality employee or intern. The Prešov University welcomes the opportunities the platform offers and is open for cooperation in the future.

Talented Europe was showed in “eComputing” conference

TE_eComputingLast 3rd of July there was a conference called eComputing at IES Puerto de la Cruz – Telesforo Bravo. The conference covered different topics related to the Computing Teaching in vocational training institutions all around Spain. In fact, part of the audience came from Mainland.

This conference was former promoted by Institut Obert de Catalunya. This time, in Tenerife, we counted on David Vargas’ collaboration, a computing teacher of IES Puerto de la Cruz, who organized everything in collaboration with Joan Carles Pérez (from Institut Obert de Catalunya).

Furthermore, the conference was economically supported by the Administrative Office of Vocational Trainings of the Regional Educational Government of Canary Islands. Even, it could be introduced by Manuel Jorge, head of the aforementioned Administrative Office.

As part of the official agenda, Sergio Delgado Quintero (from IES Puerto de la Cruz) showed the main aspects of the project Talented Europe, explaining the different intellectual outputs, the meetings that have been taken, the aims and future of the project. Actually there were a lot of questions regarding the use cases of the web application. This is quite important for us since it proves a big interest of the audience. Sergio Delgado encouraged the listeners to sign up into the application and to promote the project within their own educational institutions.

IO4: Analysis, Documentation & Translation

The third IO of Talented Europe, Analysis, documentation & translation, is a continuos work and Flow of results during the whole Project. Main products for this output are a set of documents, in written and / or digital format, that relating different stages and processes within the ‘Talented Europe’ project. Every result deemed necessary for the project development and, especially, for its sustainability beyond 2018 will be translated to the main languages (EN, FR, DE, SP, IT and SL). Collect all the information is extremely necessary for developers. It is a very important point in order to maintain properly the cycle of life for the website and mobile applications for Talented Europe and its future developments. These are the principal official documents which has been or are going to be created, translated and published during the life of the project:

IO2: Mobile Apps of Talented Europe

The Talented Europe project has as main objective the development of three final results or Intellectual Outputs: Web Plattform of Talented Europe, Mobile Apps of Talented Europe and Analysis, Documentation and Translation.
The other main output for the Talented Europe Project are the Mobile Applications, both for iOS and Android devices. This output consists on the source code and mobile applications themselves. The app lets the user to make different actions depending on the type or role it is. Their functionallities are quite similar to web application but adapted for mobile devices uses and characteristics. Currently, the development of these applications is nearing completion. We are in the final phases of coding and beginning the tests, as well as managing their publication in the stores. The launch and release of Talented Europe mobile applications is planned for next July 2017. From that moment the Apps will be available in the main stores of iOS and Android. They will also be included in the dissemination plan of the project to facilitate its reach to the final stakeholders. At the next Multiplier Event to be held in Kosice (Slovakia) in October 2017 will be officially presented to attendees. For the development of mobile applications, NativeScript 3.0 with Angular 2.4 is being used with TypeScript 2.1.0.

IO1: Web Plattform of Talented Europe

The Talented Europe project has as main objective the development of three final results or Intellectual Outputs: Web Plattform of Talented Europe, Mobile Apps of Talented Europe and Analysis, Documentation and Translation.
Related to first intelectual output, Web Plattform of Talented Europe, this application is fully developed and in its first phase of exploitation (http://talentedeurope.eu). A beta versión of the plattform was presented in our first Multiplier Event (Luton, UK, November 2016), then the fully functional versión was finished in early February 2017, to be tested and fixed for two months and finally presented at the Tenerife (Spain) Multiplier Event in April 2017. All the functionalities, resulting from the initial proposal along with the results and conclusions obtained from the analysis phase, have been implemented and tested. At present, the main efforts of the project partners regarding this Output are focused on the dissemination of the web platform and the incorporation of the largest number of stakeholders (students, academic institutions and companies). Technically, for the backend of this web application has been used the framework Laravel 5.2 with the version of PHP 5.5.9 and MariaDB 10.1 as database manager. In the frontend is used a hybrid model where the views have been developed with the Blade template engine, adding functionality using Vue.js 1.0.28. As a CSS preprocessor is used Sass. JavaScript files are written using the ES6 standard and are compiled to ES5 using Babel.
