University of Bedfordshire guarantee of fee loan finance for EU students in 2017/18

Commitment of Bill Rammell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedforshire

BillRammellweb (1)“The University of Bedfordshire is committed to maintaining our diverse and welcoming learning environment. We recognise that due to the UK’s decision to leave the European Union prospective EU students do not know whether they will have access to a student loan in 2017/18, and that this could make a difference in whether they feel able to apply to study with us. We believe the Government will shortly confirm loan finance.

However to provide reassurance in advance of any Government commitment, We want to continue to welcome EU students to the University of Bedfordshire. So in light of the uncertainty, we have taken the decision that if EU student loan funding should not be offered for students entering the UK in 2017/18 we will offer tuition fee loans to EU students starting a course with us in 2017/18 for the full duration of their undergraduate or postgraduate taught course on the same terms as that offered by Student Finance England to UK-domiciled students.

This gives EU nationals the security that, in the unlikely event that the UK Government does not offer student loan finance for EU-domiciled students entering the UK to study in 2017/18, as long as you are eligible under the current student finance terms, you will still be able to access guaranteed fee loan finance directly from the University of Bedfordshire. Additionally, we have guaranteed that EU student fees will not exceed those of UK students on comparable courses at least until 2021″.
